About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join our Glatfelter Healthcare Underwriting team. Our new associate will provide assistance to the Underwriter in the evaluation of new business and renewal exposures and recommend acceptance, modification, or rejection. Screens new business submissions and endorsement requests based on underwriting guidelines. May assist the Underwriter in the pre-renewal process by referring questionable risks to the Underwriter. Maintains sound customer relationships with producers through demonstration of professional communication skills.

 

What We’re Looking For

Experience/Education

  • Minimum of 2 years experience within the commercial P & C insurance industry, preferably in underwriting, claims, customer service or marketing.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of the risks and exposures of hospice, home healthcare agencies, continuing care retirement communities, senior living centers and related services desired
  • Must have and maintain or attain within three (3) months and maintain a current property-casualty license.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills 
  • Requires the ability to independently learn and apply knowledge to individual risks.
  • Strong communication skills; able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Organizational skills and ability to handle tasks on a priority basis required to maintain consistent high quality and quantity of work
  • Successful completion of Insurance Institute of America's Associate in Underwriting (AU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or two (2) parts of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) courses of successful completion of Undergraduate degree.
