About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking Risk Control Specialist. This role will provide safety and risk control services to Emergency Service Organization clients in all coverage areas. This position is in our York, PA location but will require travel, based on regional coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Generates comprehensive risk assessments following GIG RC guidelines to support UW team in the selection of profitable public entity accounts.
- Generates detailed loss analysis and assists policyholders in controlling potential for frequent and severe losses.
- Generates, implements and completes risk improvement consultation services.
- Maintains ability to effectively sell policyholders on the benefits of the GIG risk control services.
- Maintains direct contact with policyholder to enhance relationships and renewal retention.
- Recognizes, evaluates and recommends appropriate controls to reduce insured risks.
- Generates technical guidance documents upon request.
- Promotes communication with Associates to maintain a team environment.
- Works independently managing an assigned book of clients and meeting quality standards.
- Plans, develops and implements risk control programs for our various divisions.
- Provides training to Risk Control Representatives and other Associates in risk assessment, and risk control services.
What We’re Looking For
- Graduation from college with a B.S. Degree in Safety Sciences, Engineering or the Physical Sciences or equivalent Professional Certification
- At least 2 years of experience in insurance company risk control and/or industry specific experience
- Working knowledge of insurance terminology, policy coverage’s and exclusions.
- Working knowledge of risk management issues associated with industry served.
- Knowledge of ISO building construction classification.
- Familiarity with computing replacement cost estimates for insurance purposes.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, DOT and underwriting standards for specific type accounts.
- Understanding of risk control techniques.
- Ability to provide training in basic risk control philosophy, computing building valuations and risk control surveys.
- Ability to administer, audit and develop company risk control services provided to our specialty programs.
- Must be willing to travel up to 60% of the time, including nights and weekends.
