About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Product Manager for our Actuarial Services department who will be responsible for actively monitoring portfolio performance, identifying where performance deviates from the plan, collaborating with the appropriate underwriting (and support) functions to adjust strategies based on performance against plan, and calculating how new strategies will optimize performance.
This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation of business plan allocations down to program, risk type, state/territory, and producer level
- Continuously monitor KPI’s across all programs, at a granular level, against plan
- Identify deviations and collaborate with Actuarial, Analytics, and Underwriting to explain reason(s) for deviations
- Build plans for corrective action
- Support pricing position & strategy in accordance with internal rate need calculations as directed by Product and Underwriting leadership
- Identify and communicate to Analytics new KPI’s to support ongoing monitoring and portfolio steering efforts
- Keep informed of price adequacy and updates to underwriting and distribution strategies that impact the product
- Research new tools and methods to complement iterative improvements in tool/rating sophistication
- Travel up to 20% may be required
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
- Actuarial exam progress preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years property and casualty commercial lines’ actuarial, reporting, and/or analytics experience
- Corporate Underwriting and/or Production Underwriting experience highly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and work with P&C insurance reporting and monitoring tools
- Working knowledge of the underwriting process and timelines
- Experience in working with underwriting issuance systems
- Working knowledge of all core P&C lines of business, as well as A&H
- Ability to quickly comprehend new insurance products and changes to existing insurance products
- Ability to draw inferences from disparate and/or incomplete data
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle tasks on a priority basis are required to maintain consistent high quality and to meet short- and long-term objectives.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professional demeanor in the performance of duties
- Ability to make decisions within scope of authority
- Ability to cope with stressful situations
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Power BI products, as well as SQL
