About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Property Claims Specialist. In this role our new associate will investigate property losses by contacting insureds, contractors, agents, regional directors, and field adjusters to expedite claims handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Determines coverage by interpreting the applicable policy conditions. Interprets and forms opinion on coverage. Considers positions of all interested parties within intent of policy and program.
- Facilitates and mediates disagreements over the scope of damages on repair costs, replacement values, claim value, etc., to the insured’s satisfaction. Acts as interlocutor and negotiates to “acceptable” resolution.
- Assigns losses to appropriate outside claims vendors and monitors for quality assurance. Supervises and influences the outcome of those individuals’ activities.
- Issues payment in the claims automated system.
- Responsible for recognizing and identifying all recovery opportunities in their claim files, including subrogation aspects and salvage.
- Maintains a diary system to ensure smooth, continued payment for those claims involving periodic payment and follows up as necessary.
- Prepares denial letters and reservation of rights letters for supervisor’s approval.
What We’re Looking For
- College is preferable, but not necessary.
- Eight (8) years experience in the insurance field or more than five (5) years in insurance claims.
- Must have or obtain the AIC designation, or equivalent, within an aggressive period of time.
- Must have or obtain appropriate licenses within an aggressive period of time
- Ability to read and interpret complex insurance policies and make appropriate decisions grounded in those interpretations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of complex insurance coverage and procedures.
